Juliet’s Awesome Story

I am certain that all of you know Juliet, but probably not her story! She is such an inspiration to us all, not to mention the sweetest most genuine people I have ever met! Take a minute to read about he Surge Elite Performance & Fitness story! We should mention too that she is 40, and looks 25!!

“Just wanted to share that it has been a little over a year now that I have been doing Functional Fitness! I know I don’t need to tell most of you how much I love it, and working out in general, but I wanted to share a little bit of my history and story with you…

I’ll TRY to keep it short! HA!

I have ALWAYS loved to exercise and move my body. As you can see from the picture, I started hanging on the bars and flipping around them at an early age! lol!!

I originally wanted to be a dancer (I always say that I will ONLY come back to Earth again if I can be a dancer.. ) and was in ballet and tap at age 5 and I LOVED it! I couldn’t stay in long because of finances at the time but I found another passion in 1984… right after the Summer Olympic Games. That year I watched Mary Lou Retton win the gold medal and knew that that was what I wanted to do! I was 11 years old.

I LOVED gymnastics and couldn’t get enough of it! I had quite a bit of natural talent but really, I worked my butt off at it. I always did extra strength and stretching work at home even if the coach didn’t tell me to. Actually, I think I was the only one who looked forward to the conditioning at the end of our practices!

When I was 13 I fell in an awkward position on floor warming up for a meet and hurt my back. I couldn’t compete in that meet but continued to compete for the rest of the season, even making it to regionals. I wouldn’t know for a couple of months after that season was over that I had actually broken my back.

That back injury did hinder me quite a bit after that and I was never the same but I still competed for the next few years until I hurt my shoulder. I couldn’t compete my senior year because of it and had surgery right after graduation.

I STILL had such passion for the body and movement, though, and began a journey of study my last year of high school into the human body, performance, self-help, alternative healing, energy healing, metaphysics, spirituality and the human mind. I received my degree in Exercise and Sport Science and went on to become a personal trainer on and off over the next 15 years. When I took time off to stay home with my kids I was studying all the time in the subjects I mentioned and received a second bachelor’s degree in Metaphysical Sciences and am now finishing up my Master’s degree in the same. I also became a Reiki Master and Reconnective Healing practitioner… I did anything I could to learn ALL I could about body, mind and spirit.

I tell you all of this to say — after working in regular gyms for some time and all that studying into the body, the mind and the spirit, I lost my passion for personal training because I just didn’t believe what I was telling my clients anymore. I mean what I was SUPPOSED to be telling my clients. AND – I realized that MOST of the people I was working with needed SO much more than just a workout.. they needed some mental, emotional, and spiritual healing….

Okay… fast forward and I’ll wrap it up (in the interest of your time.. )

A year ago – I was passionate about my own workouts but felt like I wanted to do something new. What I was doing WAS getting me stronger… I had even gotten rid of most of the pain in my shoulder AND any leftover pain I might have had from breaking my back, but I was ready for something different.

I walked into Surge Elite Performance & Fitness at the end of August 2012, fell in LOVE with it and began a brand new journey! I had made up my mind that I was going to dump all I thought I knew about working out and just soak up and learn what my coaches Courtney and Brandon were teaching. ( Thank you guys SOO much for all that you are and all that you have done for me BTW… I love you both so much! )

Anyway, WHAT an amazing journey it has been!! I have learned and re-learned SO much…. totally changed my body… and most importantly for me, re-ignited my passion for learning all I can about human movement!

I can’t even express how grateful I am… Not just for all that Functional Fitness has done for me physically and mentally but also for my Functional Fitness family. I am so in love with all the people there….

So funny that I always talk about my spirituality and how to manifest what you want…. I once said “It would be so great if they just had a competition where you just worked out!”

And so it is!! lol!”
